T.R.E - Neurogenic tremors for the athlete and the first responder…

What is TRE®?

Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®) is a simple, body-based method developed by David Berceli that helps the body release deep patterns of stress, tension, and stored overwhelm through natural neurogenic tremors. These tremors are an innate reflex found in all humans and many animals—a built-in mechanism for resetting the nervous system after stress.

Unlike many approaches that rely on talking about our experiences, TRE® works from the bottom up. There is no need to revisit difficult memories or explain your story. Instead, we create a safe container and allow the body to do what it already knows how to do: unwind, release, and restore.

Who is TRE® for?

TRE® can benefit almost anyone, but it is particularly supportive for people who carry a high load of responsibility and stress, including:

  • High performers and driven professionals

  • Athletes and active individuals

  • Entrepreneurs and leaders

  • Healthcare professionals and caregivers

  • Emergency workers, firefighters, police officers, and first responders

  • Anyone experiencing chronic stress, overwhelm, burnout, or persistent tension

Over time, our bodies adapt to stress by tightening, bracing, and holding. We may notice:

  • Tight hips and lower back

  • Jaw clenching and teeth grinding

  • Neck and shoulder tension

  • Migraines and headaches

  • Difficulty switching off

  • Poor sleep and recovery

  • Feeling "wired but tired"

The body often holds more than we realize.

Why do we practice TRE®?

Modern life asks a lot of our nervous systems.

As both a nervous system practitioner and a part-time firefighter, I have gained an even deeper appreciation for the incredible load our bodies carry. Emergency situations, adrenaline surges, responsibility, and high performance all require us to mobilize our energy quickly. But what happens when we never fully come back down?

The body keeps the score.

TRE® offers a gentle way to complete stress responses that may have remained unfinished and supports the body's natural ability to return to regulation. It teaches us an invaluable skill: how to listen to our bodies and support recovery before stress becomes chronic.

Benefits of TRE®

People often report:

  • Greater feelings of calm and relaxation

  • Improved sleep and recovery

  • Reduced muscle tension and bracing

  • More body awareness and interoception

  • Increased resilience and capacity for stress

  • Better emotional regulation

  • Improved athletic recovery and performance

  • A deeper sense of connection with themselves

Athletes often discover that releasing chronic tension improves movement efficiency, breathing, recovery, and overall performance. Emergency workers and first responders frequently find that TRE® provides a practical way to decompress and support nervous system recovery after high-adrenaline situations.

A self-help tool for life

One of the most beautiful aspects of TRE® is that it becomes a self-help tool that you can carry with you for the rest of your life.

Once learned safely and gradually, it offers a practical way to support your nervous system during periods of stress, after demanding events, or simply as part of your regular wellbeing practice.

The tremors are not something we "do." They are something we allow.

Your body already knows how to release stress.

TRE® simply gives you permission to listen.

Curious about what your body might be holding—and what it may be ready to let go of? I would love to introduce you to this remarkable practice. 🌿
